The Lake Erie Islands Historical Society Museum will host Ohio’s seven traveling banners detailing Ohio’s contributions to the American Dream since 1776. Ohio became a state in 1803 but made significant contributions as a territory prior. The banners will be set up by Ottawa County-America 250 representatives the day prior to the 250th Anniversary of the signing on August 1. The banners will remain on display through September 7. South Bass Island (Put-in-Bay), LEIHS’s hometown was instrumental in Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s defeat of the British in the Battle of Lake Erie on September 10, 1813.
