Owned and operated by the Ohio State University and Ohio Sea Grant, visitors to the South Bass Island Lighthouse can climb the light tower for a beautiful view of the lake. The light tower is open for free visitation from 11-4, Fridays and Saturdays during June to mid-August. The grounds are open for free all year from dawn to dusk. Visitors can learn all about the lightkeepers and the history of the lighthouse from several kiosks located on the grounds.
